Accessibility & Compliance

Our commitment and approach to maintaining an accessible and compliant website.

Our Commitment to Accessibility

Our practice is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We are dedicated to ensuring that all visitors, including individuals with disabilities, can access information and services through our website with substantially equivalent timeliness, confidentiality, independence, and ease of use.

We actively work to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as established by the Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C). We also endeavor to meet the requirements set forth under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act as enforced by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which establishes WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the technical accessibility standard for healthcare organizations.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We treat it as a continuous improvement priority integrated into our web development and content operations, not a one-time project.

Accessibility Features of This Website

Accessibility Tools

This website includes an accessibility tool that allows visitors to adjust text size, contrast, cursor display, line height, and other visual preferences, giving users with visual, motor, or cognitive needs immediate control over their browsing experience.

Screen Reader Compatibility

Our website is compatible with screen reading software. We use ARIA landmarks to identify regions of each page, allowing users with screen readers to navigate directly to different sections. All pages contain a "skip to main content" link so users can bypass repeated header content.

Text Alternatives

With the exception of decorative imagery, all non-text content presented to the user has a text alternative that serves the equivalent purpose. Screen readers can present this alternate information in place of images.

Keyboard Navigation

This website is designed for people who are unable to use a mouse. All functionality can be accessed through a keyboard interface without requiring specific timings for individual keystrokes. This supports users who rely on alternate keyboards, speech input software, or on-screen keyboards.

Headings and Structure

We use proper markup for headings (h1 through h6) and lists to support assistive technologies in presenting page structure. Screen readers can recognize heading levels and announce them accordingly, allowing users to navigate content efficiently.

Resizable Text

Text can be resized up to 200 percent without assistive technology and without loss of content or functionality.

Accessible Forms

Our forms use proper markup to associate labels with form controls, making it easier for screen readers to present form information. If an input error is automatically detected, the item in error is identified and the error is described to the user in text.

CSS-Based Visual Presentation

We use CSS to control the visual presentation of text, allowing users to modify characteristics such as size, color, font family, and placement through their browser or user agent settings.

Consistent Navigation

Navigation components are placed consistently across all pages. More than one method is available to locate content within the website, including menus, breadcrumbs, and site maps.

Page Titles

All web pages have titles that describe their topic or purpose, helping users find content, orient themselves, and navigate effectively.

Flashing Content

Our web pages do not contain anything that flashes more than three times in any one-second period, in compliance with guidelines designed to prevent seizures.

Code Standards

This website was built using code compliant with W3C standards for HTML and CSS. Elements have complete start and end tags, are nested according to their specifications, do not contain duplicate attributes, and use unique IDs. Standards-compliant code ensures proper function in current and future browsers and supports assistive technologies.

Language Declaration

The default human language of each page is programmatically determined, allowing speech synthesizers that support multiple languages to orient and adapt pronunciation and syntax appropriately.

Portable Document Format (PDFs)

Some documents on this website are provided in PDF format. You may need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open these files. You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader for free.

Ongoing Accessibility Efforts

Our digital team conducts periodic accessibility reviews using industry-standard automated tools and performs manual remediation of identified issues, including image alt text, heading hierarchy, ARIA role structure, color contrast ratios, and keyboard navigation. We are continuously working to improve the accessibility of our website and to maintain conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA and applicable federal accessibility requirements.

While we strive to adhere to the highest standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website at all times. Any remaining gaps are minimal in impact and do not affect the ability of individuals with disabilities to access site content and functionality in a meaningful way.
